I am so excited to call Live Oak Elementary my home! It is wonderful being part of this dedicated family. I grew up in San Ramon and graduated from California High School. I am very happy to return to my home community and continue to give back through a valuable educational experience. I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Education. I received my Multiple Subjects credential from Sacramento State.

Teaching has been my life long passion. My desire and goal is that my students will become confident learners and critical thinkers.  I believe in creating a safe and supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking on challenges.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. My family and I are big fans of the San Francisco Giants and love to go to a few games each year. I enjoy traveling to visit friends and family far and near. One of my favorite places to visit is New Zealand! I traveled there twice and really enjoyed the scenery, people, and adventures. My ideal day of relaxation would include a large cup of coffee, a beach and a book!

I look forward to working together to make this a memorable year for your student. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”

I have been in the field of education for many years, twenty of them at the elementary level. I have been teaching at Live Oak since we opened seven years ago. My philosophy of education is that students learn effectively when they have choices and are active participants in building a strong classroom and school community. As a Student Council advisor, I am able to help build leadership skills as well as a sense of collaboration among the student body.  Having recently earned my Master’s Degree in Arts Integration in the Curriculum, I am looking forward to expanding my student’s minds and expectations-of themselves, and the world around them.

I am married, with two freshmen children: my daughter at Las Positas College, and my son at Cal High. I consider my classroom family an extension of my personal family, and anticipate facilitating our relationship throughout the school year.

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.

Kasey Wright - B1

Mrs. Wright's Website

My name is Mrs. Kasey Wright and I am delighted to be part of the Live Oak Elementary School for a 7th year.

I attended Saint Mary’s College in Moraga where I received my degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in music. I then went on to earn my teaching credential at the Saint Mary’s School of Education.  I earned my Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in Arts Integrated Curriculum through Lesley University in Boston, Massachusetts.

I love traveling! I was an exchange student to Japan, backpacked through Europe twice, spent a summer in Hong Kong and China, visited the beautiful island nation of Bali and spent Christmas in Australia. More recently, I went to the Dominican Republic, and enjoyed another trip to Bali for my honeymoon this summer.  I also enjoy watching movies, singing, spending time with my friends, doing anything that involves animals and nature, and snuggling with my cats. After teaching in Oakland for six years, I moved across the ocean to live and work in Sapporo, Japan. I taught English to middle and high school students for a year. I spent my free time eating a lot of sushi, playing in the snow and learning to speak Japanese, while experiencing some of the most beautiful cultural traditions I have ever known.

Now, I’m happy to bring my experiences in both teaching and traveling to my classroom at Live Oak, where I hope everyone can find their own success. I hope to teach my students about different cultures and help them open their eyes to the HUGE world they can explore.

My desire to teach began when I was in 8th grade.  After having many inspirational teachers and coaches, both related to me and not, I knew that education was the profession for me. So, I enter my 13th year of teaching (fourth year at Live Oak) with all of you and I am full of excitement for the year. Outside of teaching, I love the San Francisco Giants and used to keep score at all of the games, a skill I learned from my mom. I also participated in a lot of sports growing up (softball and soccer) and even played softball in college at the University of the Pacific. As a lifelong learner, I've realized the importance (and still do) of balancing academics, athletics, and other extracurricular activities. It's extremely imperative to me for my students to be well-rounded as nine, ten and eleven year olds. Academics always take priority, however many life lessons can be learned at anytime, anywhere. Getting along with peers and treating each other responsibly and respectfully is of utmost importance. Saying please and thank you daily will definitely pay off. I look forward to helping you meet all of your fifth grade goals to prepare for middle school and life. Additionally, I am excited to get to know each of you as individuals and in your last year of elementary school. Team B-5 rocks!

I am excited to be returning to Live Oak and joining the fifth grade team.  This is my second year at Live Oak but I have been a teacher for 10 years.  My teaching career started after completing my BA degree from U.C. Berkeley. From there I worked as a teaching intern at The Hamlin School in San Francisco, CA and then a head teacher at Redwood Day School in Oakland, CA. During this time I received my teaching credential and MA from San Francisco State.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, three children and dog, Buddy.  I also enjoy reading, cooking, dancing and listening to music.  We are San Ramon locals so don’t be surprised if you see me at Safeway or Peet’s Coffee.
