I am honored to join the Live Oak Elementary staff in providing educational support along with helping to motivate and guide student learning.
I discovered my passion for teaching after homeschooling a second grader in McCarthy, Alaska and as an English Aid at a private bilingual elementary school in Guaymas, Mexico. I earned my BA in Behavioral Science from San Jose State University. For two years, I was a Montessori preschool teacher, working with 3-5 year olds. I then earned my MA in Education and teaching credential from University of Phoenix while working and raising my three young children.
When I'm not working, I enjoy decorating, taking bike rides with my family and spending time with our two dogs Azzi and Khali and of course our Netherland Dwarf Bunny Coco Chanel.
Hello, my name is Cynthia Ewy, and I am excited to be a part of the 2nd grade team here at Live Oak. Prior to Live Oak, I have worked in our school district in a variety of positions for the past 12 years. Prior to that, I was a former 5th grade teacher when I lived in Houston, TX. After starting a family and moving back to California, I was a yard duty helper, a health clerk, a 1st grade teacher, a substitute teacher, and most recently a child nutrition assistant at DVHS.
I grew up in the East Bay, attended Sacramento State, and received my multiple subject teaching credential at UC Berkeley. I currently live in San Ramon with my husband, Russ, our 2 sons, Scott (sophomore at UCLA), Chris (senior at DVHS), and our sweet little dog, Kona.
I am happy to be a part of the Live Oak staff and I love working with all of the teachers and students here in second grade!
